About Singapore Indian Puja Association (SIPA)

Established in August 2022, the Singapore Indian Puja Association (SIPA) began its journey with the inaugural Durga Puja held in October of that year. This initiative was born out of the collective passion of a group of individuals who envisioned a Durga Puja celebration in Singapore that resonated with the true essence of the festival. Durga Puja is more than just a festival celebrated by Bengalis or non-Bengalis. It's a sentiment, a fervor, and a manifestation of love, faith, and triumph. It's a time for reunion, rejuvenation, and a heartfelt celebration of traditions and customs passed down through generations. While the rituals span 10 days, known as 'Navratri', it's the concluding five days that primarily mark the 'Durga Puja' fervently celebrated by Bengalis worldwide. In 2023, we are thrilled to announce that our Durga Puja celebrations will be held from 20th to 24th October. This year, we aim to elevate the experience, infusing more cultural programs, community engagements, and spiritual activities, ensuring that every attendee feels the warmth and essence of this grand festival. Our commitment to inclusivity remains steadfast, and we continue to strive for a Puja where everyone feels at home, irrespective of their background. The narrative of Goddess Durga vanquishing the demon Mahishasura is symbolized in the deity worshipped globally. In places like Kolkata and other parts of India, Durga Puja is omnipresent, with celebrations on streets, sidewalks, and alleys, welcoming everyone to partake. SIPA's vision is to bridge the gap of distance and formalities, creating a relaxed, homely, and inclusive Puja in Singapore. While cultural programs, including music and dance, are integral to Puja celebrations, we remain committed to our social responsibilities. Last year, we supported the Children’s Cancer Foundation (CCF) in Singapore, collaborated with Sri Krsna’s free meals for migrant workers, and extended our assistance to St Hilda’s community services. This year, we are excited to introduce new initiatives and partnerships, amplifying our impact in the community. As we step into our second year, we remain humble, acknowledging our nascent stage. Yet, our aspiration is clear: to evolve as the Durga Puja family or organization where individuals from all walks of life participate with the same enthusiasm and love they'd feel back home. We humbly seek your continued blessings, support, and well-wishes on this journey. Thank you!
